About

Welcome to the photographic website of Angus McComiskey.

Angus McComiskey is a freelance photographer currently living and working in Edinburgh in the east of Scotland. He has been involved in photography in one way or another for over 30 years, specialising in travel, landscape and nature photography. Trained as a Chartered Civil Engineer, Angus’ work has taken him to many different parts of the world, including North Africa and the Middle East where he has been resident on and off for over 20 years. Now back in the UK, Angus is exploring photo opportunities closer to home, including Eastern Europe and his native Scotland.

“As a youngster I always had a passion to travel to distant foreign lands. Thankfully my chosen profession gave me ample opportunity to fulfil this dream. Initially photography was a form of recording my travels and the diverse cultures that I found myself working in or travelling through. However, over the years this developed into a more serious interest, as I became more discerning in the use of light and texture, colour and shape, and the overall quality of the final image. I am self-taught and have used Nikon cameras and lenses for the past 30 years. I took the digital step in July 2003 with the purchase of a Fuji digital SLR. This was replaced with a Nikon D200 in June 2006, followed by a full-frame Nikon D700 and then a Nikon D800. I am currently shooting with a Nikon Z7 full frame mirrorless camera.
